Individual Therapy
Thoughtful, trauma-informed therapy for adults who are tired of holding it all together
Individual therapy is a place to slow things down, tell the truth about what’s actually going on, and stop pretending you’re “fine” when you’re not. Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in patterns they understand intellectually but can’t seem to shift.
You don’t need to have a perfectly worded goal, a clear diagnosis, or a dramatic breaking point to start. You just need a sense that something isn’t working the way it used to — and a willingness to be curious about that.
Individualized Support
Come as you are. We’ll take it from there.
What individual therapy with me is actually like
Therapy with me is calm, collaborative, and very human. There’s no clipboard energy, no pressure to perform, and no expectation that you’ll show up knowing exactly what to say.
We pay attention to:
- what’s happening in your thoughts and emotions
- how your body responds under stress
- the relational patterns that keep showing up (even when you swear you’re 'done with them')
I’m not here to rush you, fix you, or tell you how you should feel. We move at a pace that feels steady and respectful of your nervous system — which, for many people, is a relief in itself.
Some sessions feel reflective and grounding. Others might feel more emotionally focused. Occasionally there’s laughter. Often there’s insight. Always, there’s space to be honest.
Who individual therapy tends to be helpful for
Individual therapy may be a good fit if you:
- feel emotionally overwhelmed, burnt out, or constantly 'on'
- have a history of trauma, chronic stress, or relational wounds
- struggle with self-doubt, people-pleasing, or overthinking everything
- notice the same relationship patterns repeating (and you’re tired of it)
- want to understand yourself better, not just cope better
You don’t have to be in crisis. Many people start therapy because something feels off, heavy, or misaligned — even if, on paper, things look “fine.”
What change can look like (without the therapy clichés)
Therapy isn’t about becoming a brand-new person or achieving emotional enlightenment. It’s more subtle — and more sustainable — than that.
Over time, many clients notice:
- feeling steadier and more grounded in their body
- less reactivity and self-criticism
- clearer boundaries and more honest communication
- increased trust in their own choices
- a stronger sense of alignment with their values
Progress isn’t linear. Some weeks feel lighter, others heavier. We work with what shows up, without forcing meaning or outcomes.

A note on how I work
My approach is trauma-informed and integrative, drawing from evidence-based frameworks that support emotional processing, nervous system regulation, and relational awareness. Translation: there is structure and intention behind the work — it just doesn’t feel rigid or formulaic.
If you’re interested in specific therapeutic approaches (including EMDR), you’ll find more detail in the FAQ.
Next steps (no pressure)
Reaching out for therapy can feel vulnerable — and sometimes awkward. If you’re curious about working together and want to see if this feels like a good fit, you’re welcome to reach out or book a consultation.
You don’t have to have it all figured out to begin - change starts with action.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who, What, Where, When, Why
Individual therapy is a one-on-one space to explore what’s going on internally — thoughts, emotions, body responses, and relationship patterns — with the support of a trained therapist. It’s not about being 'fixed.' It’s about understanding yourself more fully and building steadiness over time.
Individual therapy is helpful for adults who feel overwhelmed, burnt out, stuck in repeating patterns, or disconnected from themselves or others. Many clients seek therapy for trauma, chronic stress, depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, or during life transitions (including a break up, having a child, needing to change something in their life). You don’t need to be in crisis to start.
My work is trauma-informed and integrative, meaning I draw from several evidence-based approaches depending on what’s most helpful for you. These include EMDR therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), attachment-based therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and relational approaches. Therapy is always tailored to the individual — not applied as a one-size-fits-all method.

Both. It truly depends on what feels most relevant. Some sessions focus on present-day stressors and coping, while others explore past experiences that continue to shape emotional or relational patterns. We decide together and move at a pace that feels manageable.
Individual therapy is a broader, relational process that may include different therapeutic approaches. EMDR therapy is a specific, evidence-based method often used for trauma processing. EMDR may be incorporated into individual therapy when appropriate, or offered as a focused treatment on its own.

This really depends. Most clients start with weekly or bi-weekly sessions. Frequency can change over time depending on your needs, goals, and capacity. We’ll check in about this together — it’s not a rigid rule.
Yes — and I understand this personally. As a high-achieving individual myself, I know how difficult it can be to make time for therapy when you’re balancing work, family, and everything else life asks of you.
I offer evening appointments, and in some cases weekend sessions, to make therapy more accessible for people with full schedules. Therapy doesn’t have to be another thing you feel guilty about 'not fitting in'. We’ll work together to find a rhythm that feels sustainable and supportive, not overwhelming.
No. There’s no required timeline and no expectation that therapy is something you “stay in forever.” Some people come for focused support during a specific season of life, while others return to therapy at different points as new challenges, transitions, or layers emerge.
As a relational therapist, I often see clients come back for what I like to think of as a tune-up — during a life change, a relationship shift, or simply to reflect on how far they’ve come. These moments are some of the most meaningful parts of the work.
There can be real benefits to working with a therapist who knows your history and can support you across different chapters of your life. Therapy doesn’t have to be an “8 sessions and done” experience — it can be a steady, supportive relationship you return to when you need it.
Note that EMDR does require a minimal amount of sessions to work through (Why? Check here).
Individual therapy is offered virtually only at this time, but will be in person in Temiskaming Shores / New Liskeard coming shortly in 2026. Virtual therapy can be a flexible and effective option for many people. Services for Ontario, Canada residents only given the restrictions on licences.
Feeling safe, respected, and understood matters. A free 20 minute consultation can help you ask questions, get a sense of my style, and decide whether this feels like the right fit for you. You’re not locked in just by reaching out.
